Meditation - FAQ 1

Do read the previous blog What is Meditation

Q: Why to meditate?
A: We, human beings, all have become utilitarian. We always want to know the use of everything and use everything. Remember life is not an utilitarian activity, it is existential. It is our core essence. Drop this attitude of utilitarian. Meditation is knowing or staying in tune with our permanent real self. If you introspect deeply, you will come to know that there is only one real search which every human being has, “Coming Back to Our Own Permanent Real Self”.

Q: What are the benefits of Meditation?
A:  Having said the above, following are some of the main benefits which automatically flow:
1. Peace
2. Bliss
3. Stress free life
4. Good and Sound Healthy life style
5. Get good and sound sleep
6. Increase our memory and concentration
7. Life mystery is unfolded with many different beautiful spiritual experiences.

Q: Is it difficult to meditate?
A: It is the simplest one. Because since our birth (by default), we were in that state only. Suppose you know to ride a bicycle. After some years of gap, you ride it again. You will be able to do it again because you know the knack of balancing the bicycle.

Q: Can a person leading an ordinary life meditate?
A: Yes. Remember Meditation is coming back to original state of our being.

Q: How did we lose this state then?
A: Till 4 years (approx.) we were in that state. But after that when our mind (personality / mask) started developing, slowly and gradually we started forgetting that state. It is said that by the time we reach 14 years, we have forgotten it.

Q: What is Meditation Technique?
A: Meditation Technique is not Meditation. They are just the tools to reach our real permanent self i.e. Meditation. E.g. Focus on a candle light (“Tratak”). It is a technique and not meditation itself.

Q: What are these Meditation Techniques for then?
A: Have you observed your mind (thoughts) anytime? Even if we are doing nothing, it still keeps on chattering. These techniques help us to remove the dust / conditioning from our body and mind, so that we can come back to our original self. Remember Mind is the only barrier and also the only friend who will help us to come back to our real self.

Really speaking "Our Self should be the Master and Mind the Slave, but today the reverse has happened".
