Meditation - FAQ 4

This is Meditation - FAQ 4 - Important Concepts

Do read :

Q: Some Important Concepts about Meditation
A: Although meditation is our original state of our being which cannot be explained through words or concepts, a sincere effort is being made to point the same through some concepts:

§  Outer Space: It includes all the forms and the surrounding space perceived through our senses.

§  Outer World: It includes only those forms in Outer space with which we relate to actually or which we have practically experienced.

§  Inner World: It is the effect of Outer World in our body and mind.

§  Inner Space: It is the empty, nothing, formless[Shoonya][Nirakar] being which is the core of our consciousness. It is also called as Subjective Awareness.

Following are Three steps using the above concepts to be in meditation:

Objective Awareness [Dhrastha]:

This is the First stage of Meditation.

We become aware of our doings, sensuality, breathing, feeling, thinking, visualizing etc. It can be called as watching the circumference.  Observer is aware of their Inner World.

Total Awareness [Sakshi]:

This is the second stage of Meditation.

We watch our center as well as the circumference, watching our being as well as the happenings. We are generally aware of our doings as well as the watcher’s self, the being. Total Awareness is being generally aware of Outer Space, Outer World, Inner World and Inner Space.

Meditation (Meditative Awareness):

This is Meditation.

It is remembering (completely aware of) the undisturbed consciousness, a state of no mind or the no-man’s land between Inner World and Inner Space.

It is neither concentration nor contemplation. In concentration, mind concentrates. In contemplation, the mind contemplates. In meditation, the mind simply disappears.

Meditation is the process of coming to our self, leaving the body, mind and heart, everything coming out to a point where there is nothing to be eliminated. In Meditation everything is dropped, but we remain in an intense state of Awareness.

Meditation is journey from Objective Awareness to No Man's land between Inner World and Inner Space (Subjective Awareness).

Wisdom Pointer:

The important concepts are like  pointing a finger towards the  moon. Kindly see the moon(Meditation) where the finger is pointing to. Kindly do not get stuck to the finger(i.e. Concepts).

Health Tips-1-Purification

JalDhauti – Body Purification Technique

Remember if we need a healthy mind, it is possible easily via a healthy body only. Therefore , we will take a practical and ancient proven way to purify our body. It is called as JalDhauti , a Kshatkarma technique in Hatha Yoga (Refer 3.Hatha Yoga in Yoga–Introduction-Part 1). Kindly read the instructions given below carefully before doing it.

What is JalDhauti ?

Jal means Water and Dhauti means to clean our internal body (especially the entire digestive tract ). So cleaning our body via water.

How to do it ?

  • Heat pure drinking water (1 -2 liters) till it achieves the body temperature and put a tea spoon  of white rock salt in it.
  • Initially, the proportion of salt can be kept a little high.
  • Start drinking this water sitting at one place (preferred to sit in {KhoKho} posture. See References given below) . Generally, nothing is felt till a liter of water is consumed.
  • Keep on drinking the water. Afterwards, the weight of the water is felt into the stomach, which gradually causes strain.
  • After intake of 1 to 2 liters of water, there is a nauseating feeling. Keep on drinking.
  • While drinking the water (salted and heated as described herein above), it should be drunk fast consuming it from a glass.
  • Ultimately, there is a feeling that no further quantity can be consumed and there is an intense feeling to vomit.
  • Then stand up with a distance of 1 to 1.5 ft in the legs and bend down slightly (More than 90 degrees).
  • Use a Bathroom or toilet to vomit. Do not use Wash Basin as they are heighted generally, so difficult to vomit there.
  • Insert the fore or index finger, middle finger and the small finger of the right hand into the mouth and press a little at the end of the tongue.
  • This aggravates the feeling to vomit.
  • The water in the stomach will come out in gushes.
  • Try to bring out the entire quantity by inserting fingers into the throat.
  • When the entire or most of the  quantity of water comes out, the nausea stops and the feeling to vomit vanishes.
  • Wash the mouth and perform shavasan.
  • Shavasan should be performed for 5 to 10 minutes as per the need and then one can resume the normal routine.
  •  After 30 minutes, take a light drink (water, juices) and then carry  with normal breakfast.

When to do it ?

  • To be done only in morning after we wake up.
  • We should do it on an empty stomach only.
  • We can do it before or after we brush our teeth.
  • We can do it before or after going to call of nature(1 or 2)

How many times to do it?

  • Only once in a day.
  • First time in life (Starters): Do  it for minimum 7 days and maximum 21 days continuously(preferably without skipping a single day).
  • Repeaters: There are 2 options
  1. 3 days consecutively in a month
  2. 1 day after every 15 days.

What the Benefits of it ?

  • It clears all the toxins from our digestive tracts.
  • Even Laxatives cannot clean some of the parts of digestive tracts which can be cleaned only by JalDhauti.
  • White rock salt acts as an antiseptic.
  • Acidity problem is resolved.
  • Upper respiratory tracts (like cough) are cleared.
  • In the TV the advertisements are shown that chocolates, sweets etc. decay our teeth. It is not true. Teeth decay because of the acid in the stomach.  No acidity in the stomach means good teeth and gums.
  • Eyes and Ears becomes vibrant
  • The remaining water which we are not able to vomit passes through the large intestine and clears our bowels. It acts as a mild natural laxative.
  • Bad Breath is removed.
  • Mind becomes restless, irritating and frustrating because of acidity in the stomach. Once the acidity is removed via JalDhauti,We feel relaxed, peaceful and a sense of centering in the mind.
  • We have lot of positive or neutral thoughts on the day, we do JalDhauti.
  • Spiritual seekers do this regularly, because a pure body can easily arise in spirituality.

 Precautions ?

  • People with High BP should do it occasionally. As for BP , salt is not recommended they can do it without salt
  • People having Glaucoma should not do it.
  • People with Heart problems should not force themselves or exert more pressure during vomiting.
  • People who have gone surgeries should not do it for at least 3-6 months.
  • Just remember, everyone know their limits. Kindly use common sense.

Any pointers to be considered ?

  • First timers find it difficult to vomit initially due to past conditioning. But as the days pass, they become more comfortable and whatever the water they consume they are able to vomit most of them.
  • There is lot of toxins in our body, which we are not aware. When the water we vomit is near what the same color of water which we drank, it means our body is free of toxins.

Forgive-The Vital Key

Today let us realize why Forgiving is the Vital Key.

Forgiving dictionary means “No longer feel angry about or wish to punish (an offence, flaw, or mistake). “

Let me explain with a small real example from Mahabharata:

After Draupadi(Pandava’s) wife was openly humiliated by Dushshasan(brother of Duryodhana) by trying to remove her clothes in front of everyone.  Krishna came and clothed her by using his 4. Psychic Body State (Refer 7 States of Human Being). After that incident, just imagine the state of Draupadi (this is called as Hell State). Krishna tells her that she currently is in Hell State, and if she needs to come out of this state, she should forgive everyone and just surrender to Existence (Refer Surrender(ing)-The Important Key). She will be immediately transformed into Heaven State .

“Heaven(Blissful) or Hell(Misery) is our state of mind which we currently feel, and not some place outside where we go after our death, told by our so called stupid and dumb priests.”

Further Krishna says that once you are in this heaven state, then Draupadi will be able to take unbiased and correct steps to get justice. When we forgive unconditionally, not only we attain Heaven(Blissful) state, existence takes correct natural steps to get justice.

Whom to Forgive?

  • Any person, event or situation who has created misery to us.
  • Our Self. Lot of people forgive others, but they forget to forgive their own self. We are a perfect, imperfect human beings and its absolutely ok to make mistakes. So, in case we make any blunders, first forgive our self.

Steps to Forgive?

These following steps may help:
  • Sit in a quiet place, and recollect the person, event or situation.
  • Just in your mind say or a bit loudly to yourself, that you forgive that person, event or situation “as it is”.
  • Take a deep breath and let go that thought with the breath. If we attach our negative thoughts with outgoing breath, for a couple to times, the negative thoughts are released. Don’t believe me blindly, try it and then come to a conclusion. Also refer 2. Kapal Bhatti and 4. Anulom Vilom (Alternate Nostril Breathing)  in Yoga – Basic Pranayama.
  • Do it for a couple of times, till you feel a sense of peace dawning on you.
Don’t forget the main point, that is forgiving with feeling and not like a robot.

How Forgiveness Work?

When we actually forgive (with feeling and not verbally) we stop fighting with our negative thoughts in our mind. And remember Negative thoughts are naturally embedded in our human being (for survival purposes), and they also multiply exponentially. Negative thoughts become Neutral thoughts or further thoughtlessness state of mind (Now and Here). At this state you are connected with existence. And all natural and blissful moments happen.

Is the physical presence of the person needed to forgive?

It is preferred, but not necessary.Kindly remember forgiving is on our part, our mind (thoughts). We will be out of hell state. If the physical presence of the other is there, it will also transform them.

If we forgive a person, does it mean we are defeated and no action should be taken against that person?

No. We can either be in a hell or heaven state of mind. The other person wants us to be in a hell state. It purely depends upon us. We cannot control others after a limit. Once we forgive (with feeling and not like a machine or activity), we immediately are in the heaven state.

The person who has caused trouble, will automatically be in hell state (although that should not be our objective). Its like a mirror reflecting as it is. When we Forgive we become like a mirror to the person who has troubled us.
May be they will be transformed to seek apology and do good positive things.

Why it is difficult to forgive?

It  is difficult for many to forgive, because of our EGO. EGO finds lot of fun, especially in negative or complex thoughts.

Wisdom Pointer:

Its up to you to decide what you want; Heaven State (Forgiving) or Hell State (Unforgiving).
